The Total Solution to Renewable Heating
CPL Renewables is part of the CPL Industries Group (the largest distributor and manufacturer of solid fuels in the UK) and provides complete renewable energy heating systems based on wood pellet boilers. The CPL Renewables Total Solution includes system specification, financing solutions, system installation and subsequent pellet supply.
The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) launched by DECC in November 2011 provides twenty years of financial support for the installation of renewable heating systems. To date around 2,000 systems have been installed under the scheme with over 90% of these systems being biomass boilers. The increasing popularity of the scheme is due to the return provided for correctly sized and engineered systems. In some applications a 200kw system can give a four to five year payback and £400,000 to £500,000 of RHI income over a twenty year period, while a 1Mw system may give a relatively short payback and give ourer £1m in RHI income over twenty years.
The installation of a biomass heating system requires the system to be matched to the heating requirements of the specific application. CPL’s specification service includes boiler sizing and selection, thermal accumulation and system packaging with the design aimed at minimising heat losses. Wood pellet heating systems can be either installed within existing buildings or as self contained energy cabins. CPL Renewables works with its key partners Hoval, HDG Boilers and RNM system engineers, to provide high quality systems with the maintenance support to keep them operating efficiently for the 20 years of the RHI Scheme.
CPL and its partners have over 100 years experience of heating systems and solid fuel giving the customer confidence in the solutions provided and the longevity of the support base for installations which may operate for twenty years or more.
The pellet boiler systems come with a full warranty and maintenance package including call out and routine maintenance. The systems are built to high quality and the specification may include remote monitoring and diagnostics.
The capital cost of biomass heating systems is considerable (but is supported by the RHI) and hence a suitable financing structure is essential.
CPL Renewables provides a range of finance packages including;
Hire purchase from a range of reputable finance providers. This allows the user to benefit from the RHI income, which will often more than cover the finance payments for the financing period. Once the financing period is over the user benefits from the full RHI income.
Energy service contracts in which the heating system is provided by CPL Renewables. The user then benefits from significant fuel savings, providing an immediate return for the user as well as the switch to a renewable heating system with no capital cost.
CPL Renewables provides UK sourced FSC pellets to EN Plus A1 standard. FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) accreditation ensures that the wood used in pellet production is sourced from forests which are managed responsibly. EN Plus A1 is a Europe wide standard which ensures that pellets are manufactured and distributed to the highest quality. Most boiler manufacturers insist on EN Plus pellets in order to ensure reliable boiler operation and maintenance of the warranty for the boiler system.
Pellets can be offered on index related pricing giving security over future energy costs.
Pellet systems provide a significant reduction in CO2 emissions compared to fossil fuels. Pellets sourced by CPL Renewables produce circa 65g of CO2 per Kwh of heat energy produced. This is 20% of that of Oil, 25% of Gas and is only half of the specified maximum set by DECC under the RHI, it is also significantly less than a heat pump using power from the current UK grid.
There is a lot to consider when installing a biomass heating system but 2,000 users are now claiming the financial benefits of the RHI while also reducing CO2 emissions.
CPL Renewables can provide a complete packaged solution including the pellet boiler system and financing allowing you to access the benefits of an RHI eligible heating system.
